Patrice Carteron is coach of Mali’s national team
Mali coach Patrice Carteron has likened Ghana’s style to Germany ahead of Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations Group B clash.
The Frenchman believes the firepower of the West Africans can be compared with former World and European champions.
Carteron’s side go into the match to be played at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium as favourites following last Sunday’s 1-0 win over Niger.
But he is warning his players to be wary of Ghana’s unyielding bravery and pedigree.
“Ghana are the ‘Germany’ of Africa. They are always up there at the Nations Cup and, above all, they have a very good mentality, just like the Germans,” Carteron said at a press conference
“We will, therefore, have to be prepared for a battle against such a team, but our win over Niger has boosted confidence.”
Mali beat Ghana 2-0 to win bronze at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
