Some fishermen and fishmongers in the Western region have denied using formalin, a chemical agent used in preserving corpses, to preserve fish meant for public consumption. This follows an assertion on Monday by the Deputy Minister for Fisheries, Mr Aquinas Tawiah Quansah, to the effect that formalin was being used to preserve fish in the Western Regional town of Axim. The fishermen emphatically denied the assertion when they appeared before a team comprising the Joint Food and Drugs Authority, environmental health and other stakeholders, which is investigation the claim. ...
