Tonnes of maize are locked up in major growing areas of the Ashanti Region because of the delay on the part of the traditional bulk buyers to purchase the commodity. The World Food Programme (WFP) and the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NFBSC) are the traditional buyers which pay the standard prices for the maize.
