Delta Air Lines said it is very grateful to the Government of Liberia for its tremendous support of its services between Liberia, Ghana and the United States noting that the airline is firmly committed to the Liberian market and to delivering a world-class service for Liberian customers.
In a statement issued yesterday Delta said it deeply regrets the inconvenience that the on-time performance of its flights between Liberia, Ghana and the United States in some of 2012 caused to its passengers. “Although we strive for 100 percent on-time departures, the safety and security of our passengers and crew is our number one concern and will always take precedence over schedule,” the statement said.
Delta said it has appointed a task force to improve the reliability of its Liberia flights and have already implemented a number of measures that will have a positive impact in the short-term. “While numerous delays and cancellations have certainly been beyond Delta’s control, we know there is more to be done to ensure we deliver a service our customers deserve and of which Delta can be proud. As we continue this work, Delta welcomes the support and assistance of the Government of Liberia,” the Airline said.
“Delta continues to make significant on-going investments in the Liberian market. Since we began services to Monrovia in 2010, we have made enhancements to both airport infrastructure and aviation technology at Roberts International Airport.
Delta has developed and funded GPS Approach technology, which when it is launched, will improve the reliability of aircraft operations at the airport. This technology will be available to airlines from around the world, potentially increasing commercial opportunities for Liberia. We have also invested in upgrading airport facilities and opened a new departures terminal at the airport in partnership with Air France last year,” the Delta Airline statement said.
“In less than three years Delta has trebled its frequencies to and from Liberia. While safety is our highest priority, we also have an obligation and an intense desire to improve the punctuality and operational reliability of these flights in order to ensure that our passengers have the best experience possible when traveling with Delta. This matter has the attention and focus of our most-senior officials with an eye toward restoring solid on-time performance to this market,” Delta said.
Delta said it looks forward to deepening cooperation with the Government of Liberia as the airline endeavour to improve the efficiency of its services between Monrovia, Accra and the United States.
