The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi says it is unable to attend to surgery patients because it does not have water to operate with.
Officials told Joy News they have not had water supply for four days and are forced to turn down patients who need their services. Public Relations Officer, Kwame Frimpong said the situation may get out of hand if nothing is done about it immediately. “We put some measures to see how the problems could be ameliorated. He added even the Ghana Water Company did not have water in its reservoir for use. Kwame Frimpong said the situation is precarious it affected services in the hospital. He hoped the problem will be fixed, saying if the situation is not resolved by close of day Thursday it will critically affect emergency services.
Unfortunately that did not work out very much because even the tankers that we hired to go the various hydrants and supply points could not get water,” he said.
