Kwadwo Asamoah has been critisized by many in Ghana for his output for the Black Stars
Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah insists he is never downed by heavy criticisms received for not giving of his best for the Ghana national team.
The 24-year-old has struggled to impress in a Black Stars shirt despite being one of the stellar performers in Europe in recent times.
The talented midfielder has become one of the key players for Juventus this season after churning out consistent top notch displays since arriving from Udinese in the summer.
Asamoah is one of the players expected to carry the Black Star to a fifth Nations Cup title when the tournament kicks off early next year in South Africa.
The jury is however still out there on the ex Liberty Professionals player who only showed his class for the national team at the 2010 Nations Cup in Angola.
He has often been accused of not giving his best for Ghana like he does consistently for his club.
But Asamoah maintains that has never been the case due to the vague differences in how the club operates from the national team.
“We have our way of thinking as footballers and fans also theirs too,” he told BBC Sport.
“There is a big difference in the way we play at Juventus and the way we play at Ghana.
“The training is different too so you can’t compare the national team to the club side.
“I always try to do my best. It is not like I am here and I don’t want to play and do my best. I always want to fight for the nation.
“There are days that people say I don’t do well but it doesn’t kill my spirit. It rather motivates me to do more.”
Asamoah will join the rest of his Ghana teammates that will leave Accra on January 4 for the pre-2013 Nations Cup camp in Abu Dhabi.
The Black Stars are drawn in Group B which will be based in Port Elizabeth alongside Mali, Niger and DR Congo and will open their campaign on January 20 against the Congolese.
