December election not a do or die affair, Adu Asare tells NPP

Kojo Adu-Asare Member of Parliament for the Adentan Constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare has admonished the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) not to see the December polls as a do and die affair.He indicated that like any election, the December 7 polls must be seen as a simple contest to win the mandate of Ghanaians to champion their goals and aspirations and not preparation for war.Kojo Adu-Asare made this appeal on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Thursday.With seven days to the December election, political parties are vigorously campaigning nationwide to woo prospective voters and to win power.As part of efforts to ensure a violent free elections, presidential candidate of the eight political parties contesting the polls have signed a pact to eschew violence and crack the whip on its members if they flout to regulations.The programme which was under the auspices of the he Institute for Democratic and Economic Governance (IDEG) with support from Asantehene has received commendation but some skeptics wonder whether the peace treaty is the panacea for a peaceful election.On Ekosii Sen programme Thursday, Kojo Adu-Asare questioned the NPP presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo’s genuineness to commit to peace before, during and after the December polls.According to him, Nana Addo’s reference to supposed violent attacks on his party members at Kumasi betrays his promise to control the ‘militants’ in the NPP.“Nana Addo lost the opportunity to preach peace in Kumasi.
