Dr Edward Mahama The 2008 presidential candidate of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Dr Edward Mahama has taken on the executives of the party for breeding disunity instead of working in harmony to win political power.Addressing a press conference in Accra Tuesday, he asked the party’s leadership not to allow themselves to be divided.Joy News Manasseh Azure Awuni who was at the press conference quoted Dr Mahama as saying that the PNC was a strong force in the country’s politics, and was therefore worried about the current happenings in the party.In an interview with Joy News early on, Dr Mahama expressed his disappointment in the party’s loss of focus, less than two weeks to the general elections.He therefore urged all party supporters to return to the core values of the party to make an impact in the 2012 elections.Asked what his views on the free education policy on which members of his party have expressed differing opinions were, Dr Mahama, who lost a fifth flag-bearership bid to Hassan Ayariga at the party’s delegates' congress in February this year maintained that he supported free education.The former flag-bearer asked the members of the party to remain committed to the party and refrain from giving their support to another party, until it is right to do so.
